Live for Reading...

Over my Life I have read many thousands of books. I average approximately 300+ books a year. (12-36 years = 24 years x 300 = 7,200 books +/-) My home looks like a library on any given day of the week, and my favorite places to go are library used book sales the last day (10 bags for $20)! I have a voracious appetite for books. Have written several that are sitting on my hard drive collecting dust, and started a few dozen more. :)

I decided recently, my quest as my two teen boys enter the final years of high school, that I will work on "me projects" and at some point seek to be a published author. That said, it's hard to comprehend writing for fun and pleasure, writing as a technical writer and then the leap of being paid to write for the shear fun and day to day payment of it. Perhaps not that difficult of a task, since I am a paid writer, technically (pun intended).

I have my parents to thank for my love of the written word. We went to our local library ever other day growing up, and entered every Summer Reading contest. I can still recall with very fond memories when I had set all records for reading every book in the entire YA section, Teen section, and had read the most books every summer, with my younger sister a very close second. (she didn't like the same books as I). I would sneak my Mom's and Granny's Harlequin romance novels from a very early age, after reading all the books I was allowed to check out of the library within a day of getting them.

My problem with libraries, I am a book collector. Fortunately for all the authors, book vendors, publishers and such. I also have an extensive collection of autographed books. Which perhaphs means nothing to anyone but me. I literally weep if someone touches them.

Okay, so where am I going with all this? I will begin to analyze authors, books that have impacted me, seek authors that will agree to do chat interviews, and give tips for successful publishing, and more. If you have anything you would like to see, as a reader, writer, fan, etc. please email me, message me (twitter: NCsoccerMom), Facebook: Alana Tomlin Denton. I would love to hear from you!
